Prize Rules
Summary
- Free entry, always. No purchase, fee or payment, and paying could never help you win.
- Each season has one leaderboard covering all 10 games. We announce when a season ends on the home page, and a new leaderboard starts after it.
- Two prizes each season, one month of Claude Pro each: one for #1 on the overall leaderboard, one for the player with the most runs.
- Skill decides. Winners are the best scores, never a lucky draw.
1. Organiser
Each season (a “Contest”) is run by the UnivBattles team, contact contact@univbattles.me. Prizes are bought and given entirely by the organiser. No part of any prize comes from players. The Contest is a free-to-enter competition of skill. It is not a lottery, betting or gambling, and no player stakes money or anything of value. Claude and Claude Pro are products of Anthropic, which does not sponsor, endorse or run the Contest.
2. No purchase necessary
Entry is free. There is no fee, deposit, purchase or payment of any kind. Anyone who asks you to pay to enter or to claim a prize is not us. Please report it to contact@univbattles.me.
3. Who can win
- You must be signed in with your own IIT email address and be at least 18 years old.
- One person, one account. Extra accounts are disqualified.
- The organiser and their immediate families cannot win.
- You need a Claude account (free to create) to use the prize.
4. Seasons and scoring
A season is one leaderboard. The home page shows the current season's name and, once we set it, its end date and a countdown. When a season ends we close its leaderboard, keep the results for checking, and start a new, empty one. We will give at least 24 hours' notice of an end date on the home page.
Only runs finished while signed in, during the season, count. All 10 games count equally:
- Your best score per game. Playing a game more often never adds up; only your best counts.
- Points per game (up to 100). Your points in a game are the share of that game's players you beat, with ties counting half. Until a game has 10 players, it is scored as if it had 10. For Meme Exchange we use your portfolio's current value.
- Overall total (up to 1,000) is the sum of your points in all 10 games.
- Runs. A run counts towards “most runs” only if it was started and finished while signed in, lasted at least a minimum time for that game (for example 30 seconds in Orbit), and you have not already had 30 counted runs in the past hour. Meme Exchange has no runs.
Ties go to whoever reached their total (or run count) first. The leaderboard shows only the first three letters of each player's name.
5. Prizes
| Each season | Prize |
|---|---|
| #1 on the overall leaderboard | 1 month of Claude Pro |
| Most counted runs | 1 month of Claude Pro |
That is 2 Claude Pro subscriptions per season. One person can win both. We send each prize as a one-month Claude Pro gift to the winner's IIT email address at most 3 days after the winner is confirmed. Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
6. Checking winners
- We email the top players at their IIT address within 3 days of each season closing. Winners must reply from that same address within 7 days to claim the prize. This confirms the account is really theirs.
- We review every winner's scores and runs. We may ask a winner to play again on a video call, and we check for impossible scores, scripts, run farming and duplicate accounts.
- Entries involving cheating, automation, extra accounts, someone else's email or false information are disqualified, and the prize passes to the next eligible player.
- Our decision on results is final, made in good faith under these rules.
7. Tax
Prizes from online games, including prizes in kind like a subscription, can be taxable winnings. If tax at source is due on a prize's value, we pay it ourselves, so you receive the full prize and pay nothing to claim it. We may ask for your PAN so the tax can be recorded in your name; you can then download a TDS certificate (Form 16A).
8. Publicity
We announce winners by display name and campus. We share a full name or photo only with the winner's separate consent.
9. Changes and cancellation
If cheating, a technical fault or anything outside our control affects a season's fairness, we may extend, replay or cancel that season and will explain why on the site. We will not reduce the prizes for a season once it has started.
10. No affiliation
The Contest is not sponsored, endorsed or run by any Indian Institute of Technology, the Government of India, or Anthropic. Claude and Claude Pro are Anthropic's products; we buy the prizes like any other customer.
